What do Tri-Wall and King Charles III have in common?

The UK’s leading packaging provider. Our recently crowned King. What similarities could they possibly have? Quite a few, as it turns out.

Now, we can’t claim to be in the same chapter as the royal family when it comes to status. But, long story short, there are similarities.

Enough of the cryptic hints. Let’s get on the same page. What do Tri-Wall and King Charles III have in common? And why exactly are we talking about him?

A legacy spanning seven decades

As King Charles III turns 75 this year, what better opportunity to celebrate his legacy? The King’s achievements include a lifelong dedication to charity work and founding The Prince’s Trust, advocating for the arts and protecting traditional crafts and architecture, as well as promoting organic farming and supporting agricultural communities.

But did you know Tri-Wall also has a legacy that spans over seven decades? Our oldest site actually dates back to 1817 and we were the first company to bring triple-wall corrugated board to the UK and Europe in 1960.

From Wales with love

Our humble beginnings start in Monmouth, still home to Tri-Wall HQ.

“…we were the first company to bring triple-wall corrugated board to the UK and Europe…”

And our King? As heir apparent, Charles was the longest-serving Prince of Wales in British history – a title bestowed upon him in a ceremony at Caernarfon Castle. He also studied at Aberystwyth University and learnt to speak Welsh during his time there, making him Britain’s first Welsh-speaking monarch since Elizabeth I.

A devotion to quality and manufacturing excellence

During his tenure as Prince of Wales, Charles granted 159 royal warrants to brands supplying the royal family. Lauded as a sign of quality, these royal endorsements are viewed as a mark of manufacturing excellence for many consumers.

While Tri-Wall serves businesses of all shapes and sizes, we also supply packaging to royal warrant holders – from famous clothing companies to world-renowned automotive manufacturers. Top-quality consumer brands choose us because of the high standard of our packaging products and the fit-for-a-king service we provide.

Commitment to reducing climate impact

At the age of just 21, as the chairman of the Welsh Countryside Committee, a young Prince Charles delivered his first speech on environmental issues. Back in 1970, Charles was mocked for his warnings about single-use plastics, chemicals being dumped into British waters, and air pollution from vehicles, planes and industry.

Now these views are considered mainstream, and King Charles continues to push an environmental agenda. He has even been affectionately dubbed, the ‘Climate King.’

“…we’re also working towards becoming a true carbon-neutral packaging manufacturer and supplier…”

Like King Charles, we recognise the responsibilities we must all bear if we’re to turn the tide against climate change – particularly the packaging industry. And while we all can (and must) do more, we’ve come a long way in cementing our commitment to a reduced environmental impact.

Tri-Wall not only offers recyclable materials and returnable plastics, but we’re also working towards becoming a true carbon-neutral packaging manufacturer and supplier.

Finally, Tri-Wall is honoured to be featured in the King’s commemorative album, celebrating his 75th birthday in the year of the coronation.

King Charles III: The Leadership and Vision of a Modern Monarch will be published by St James’s House on the 14th of November 2023.
